I guess I was interested to find out how the 3 drug lords got together in the first place, and why Wayne & Kent came to be at each other's throat all the time. I was also keen to see how Kent & Alice's story came about. And also, Anthony/Myolie/Louisa's relationship. I think I watched 6 or 7 episodes, and still couldn't find myself wanting to continue. I guess it's just not a series for me?

Aha I'm not surprised. Captain is my other favorite too, just because it was entertaining enough. Now th...Yes, it's all personal preferences. :)

Now that you mention LOS, I actually prefer that to MLOR. Anthony's acting was so good that I find the show quite gripping. Although the theme of the show seems a bit heavy, the plot moves quickly enough for me not to feel bogged down. Also, there is no actor/actress that I really hate watching in there who is a 1st/2nd main lead. Did you finish watching LOS? If yes, write a review soon! ;D

My favourite series of the year is the very flawed Captain of Destiny. Just for it's entertaining value. 2nd best to me is probably LOS. Surprising even to me. Ha. My only reason to watch was for Louis' first lead role. Yes, I was incredibly relieved Mat (no idea why he has decided to drop the second t from his name) didn't turn villainous or power hungry. That woud've been very out of character and too typical.

Louis and Mat's bromance is still the highlight of the series for me, hehe.

Tavia was in the background enough for me in this series to not bother me. Her character was clearly not written to steal the spotlight, thank goodness. I'm glad even though both guys were in love with her, they didn't treat her like this goddess or didn't have a love for her that felt unjustified (ahem, Eye in the Sky).

I really am not a fan of premodern series either, but every couple years one seems to come along that I really like. Bottled Passion and A Fistful of Stances come to mind, and I guess now it's this one! This series has strong characters, acting, and script, but it's enjoyment level comes down to the person's taste I guess. I gave both this and Lord of Shanghai a try, and while the latter without a doubt has good acting, it just couldn't interest me. Momentary was very character-driven and boosted some humor to keep me interested, while Lord just felt too heavy. Out of curiosity, what was your favorite series of the year? Irishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03761963266985932287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5277205963978597549.post-36332599236387107472016-02-09T10:50:07.965-05:002016-02-09T10:50:07.965-05:00I don't think I will be able to write a detail...I don't think I will be able to write a detailed comment here as I've forgotten most of my own emotions and reactions when I watched the series last summer. In fact I've forgotten most scenes too until you mention them here.

What I do remember was, I had expected this serial to be bad before I started on it, as well as expected Matt's character to turn villainous after watching the first few eps. It was a great relief TVB didn't commit this usual fatal mistake here. haha. So the serial went above my expectation in the end.

It was a very watchable serial that could keep me going easily. Like you, I enjoyed the 'bromance' between Matt and Louis the most. Rosina's character and everything that she went through was also very interesting.

As for me to really like this serial, hm...... , unfortunately not. For I just dislike pre-modern series. For I do not like to see Tavia. For it just being not enjoyable enough for me, even though it could keep me watching from ep to ep. Queen_Owlnoreply@blogger.com
